This year's edition of HPCSE is proudly dedicated to the 80th birthday of Prof. Zdeněk Dostál's , honouring his long-standing contributions to applied mathematics and high‑performance computing.

Zdenek Dostál's career has been closely intertwined with VSB – Technical University of Ostrava, in particular with the Department of Applied Mathematics and the IT4Innovations National Supercomputing Center. Over the course of his career, he has authored more than 230 articles, held several visiting professor appointments abroad, and written two monographs summarising his results on optimal algorithms for quadratic programming.

Through his research, collaborations, and mentorship, he has helped shape a vibrant community at the intersection of mathematical modelling, algorithm design, and large-scale scientific computing. We are delighted to celebrate this milestone within HPCSE and to acknowledge Zdenek Dostal's role in inspiring generations of students and researchers working on challenging computational problems.
